Rase straine, Porumbei King

Rasa a fost creata in USA prin anii 1890-1900 incrucisand 4 rase:Romani, Voiajori , Maltezi si Duchess si gandita la acea vreme pentru productia de carne. Porumbeii King – este o excelenta rasa de carne, selectionata în statele Unite ale Americii. Se mai numesc si porumbei de carne. Datorita greutatii corporale mari si aripilor scurte au un zbor greoi. La fel si împerecherea lor se face greu, din care cauza au o prolificitate redusa, astfel si productivitatea lor de taiere este redusa In mod obisnuit porumbelul din aceasta rasa cantareste in jurul a 0.8 -1.2 kg dar poate atinge si mai mult. La inceput exista o singura coloare, alb. Recunoasterea la nivel national in Statele Unite a avut loc in anul 1915 odata cu infiintrea American White King Association, asociatie care in prezent poarta numele American King Club. Desi sunt mai multe persoane care de-a lungul timpului au pretins ca ele au creat rasa se pare ca Harry Baker din Vineland-New Jersey, S.U.A., cel care a obţinut primul king alb.
